Full course description
Academic reading and writing are related practices which are important for your success at university.
While these practices are crucial, they are sometimes overlooked or regarded as 'assumed' knowledge.
This online course introduces you to three academics and follows their processes of researching for and writing an essay. You will see how these academics:
- select and use relevant information for their essays,
- establish their position or main argument, and
- present that position or argument in a coherent way.
In the final module, you will have the opportunity to write sections of your own essay to practice your skills.
This course is appropriate for all students engaged in writing essays for university.
If you are new to an enabling or undergraduate course, it is recommended that you also take Academic Survival Skills Online to complement your work in this course.
