Full course description

Aspirations: Supporting Students' Futures is an innovative professional development course for primary and secondary school teachers working in all Australian states and territories.

The course consists of six units and provides a suite of digital resources (including data, videos, activities, links to readings and further information) designed to support teachers in understanding and nurturing their students’ aspirations and elucidating pathways to higher education. The units are underpinned by a conceptual framework, designed to enhance understanding of aspiration formation and the role teachers play in supporting students from diverse backgrounds, as well as practical applications within and outside the classroom. The course will appeal to teachers across government, Catholic, and independent sectors as well as preservice teachers. Other education stakeholders are also welcome to complete the course.

The course is currently accredited with the Teacher Quality Institute in the ACT. Teachers registered in the ACT can use this course for 10 hours of professional learning. Additional information about accreditation is provided within the course. Teachers in all other states and territories can use the Certificate of Completion as a record of their professional learning, which will be available upon completion of the course.
