Full course description

This one hour, self-paced module has been designed to support your navigation to find more information on topics about improving your inclusive teaching and learning. Throughout this module, you will understand the positive impact and importance of creating and maintaining a safe and inclusive classroom for students at UON.

The University of Newcastle has a number of researchers, academics, and professional staff who are dedicated to supporting students who are typically underrepresented in higher education. They provide professional learning opportunities that this moduleDOES NOTreplace, and we strongly recommend you engage with the following before continuing with this module:

  • Cultural Capability training, delivered bythe Wollotuka Instituteto develop the understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural knowledge and how important it is to how we conduct teaching and learning;

The module is designed to support you in making your classroom more inclusive and promote belonging for your students. While this module provides suggestions and resources to enhance your understanding, nothing can replace knowing your individual students. Creating connections with students not only positively impacts learning but also helps you understand each student's unique needs and perspectives.
